Google Tasks - when and where you want them

I have yet to finish 'Getting Things Done' by David Allen, but I'm a life-long list maker - so Google Apps made me happy the first time I saw it. But you can't always get to 'Tasks' the way you want - for example there's no easy or obvious way to get to a full-page display when using Google Apps.

So here are the URLs that will get you just Tasks in your browser - in four different formats, for standard Google accounts and Google Apps accounts. If you know of others I'd love to try them.

Standard Accounts

Canvas View - full page and fully functional when you want to manage a lot of lists and tasks.
Android View - decent formatting for a small screen, works in any browser
Plain View - taken from the iGoogle gadget, very plain
Mobile (breaks in Chrome, OK in Firefox) - just the text, but it works.

And for Google Apps accounts there's a tweak to the URL:

            Canvas view - https://mail.google.com/tasks/a/YOURDOMAIN.com/canvas
            Android View - https://mail.google.com/tasks/a/YOURDOMAIN.com/android
            Plain view - https://mail.google.com/tasks/a/YOURDOMAIN.com/ig
            Mobile - https://mail.google.com/tasks/a/YOURDOMAIN.com/m

You still can't share task lists, which leaves me creating additional Google accounts and sharing the login/password with others when sharing is necessary, but it's worth the trouble for some things like:
  • Tracking numbers and due dates for FedEx or UPS packages
  • Group to-dos where notes get added
  • URLs that I want to go back and re-read, but won't remember why without a description

Yes, yes I know there are lots of other tools for reminders and references, and I know that RTM does lots of cool stuff, but nothing integrates with Google (and Android) like Google. Yes, I know you can assign a date to a task and have it appear on a shared calendar, but (for better or worse) most of my tasks don't have deadlines. No, I didn't bother testing IE - if you ask 'why' slap yourself.

If you want to keep your Google Tasks close at hand but don't need a bunch of screen real estate to do it, the iGoogle gadget works very well and a simple click on the 'maximize' icon in the widget brings up the canvas view.

And if anyone knows how to apply a theme to a task view I'd love to see that.
